The theological vision of God and natural science
Orthodoxy does not exclude from the theological vision of God the findings of natural science. Science and faith can be in concert with one another and our desire to reinstate our communion with God can involve both natural science, and the science of the soul. An Orthodox Christian does not have to suspend scientific knowledge in order to adhere to faith. “Only with a superficial knowledge do there arise false contradictions between faith and knowledge, between religion and science (I.M. Andreyev).”

A Samaritan Village Rejects the Savior
51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”
55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.
Agreed. But we have reached a moment in time when all that passes for science is not necessarily what it appears to be. Science now sometimes bends under the pressure of political correctness and presents the will of pressure groups as fact. For example psychiatric definitions until recent times listed homosexuality as a mental disorder. The latter has been stricken from the books not as an update based on findings that contradict the former assumption, but rather as a result of the relentless pressure from those who insist homosexuality is perfectly natural and normal and are willing to make life unbearable for persons who assert otherwise.
