“The way you speak to others is how Christ will treat you. The same measure you measure others is the same He will measure you. As you forgive the sins of others, He forgives yours. With what love and reverence you seek Him, with such on His part, He is towards you.”

St. Joseph the Hesychast

The Scripture Readings

Colossians 1:1-2, 7-11

1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

2

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

7

as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf,

8

who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.

9

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10

that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11

strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

Luke 11:34-41

34

The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

35

Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.

36

If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.

37

And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and sat down to eat.

38

When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that He had not first washed before dinner.

39

Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees make the outside of the cup and dish clean, but your inward part is full of greed and wickedness.

40

Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also?

41

But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.
