The Cure for Your Soul

Those of us who converted to the Orthodox Faith generally did so because we recognized an emptiness within us that we knew needed to be filled. We knew our life would lead to total nothingness if we didn’t find something to fill that emptiness we sensed had taken over our life.

That Orthodoxy offered a very precise way in which to enter into communion with God seemed undeniable. We sensed that becoming Orthodox would ultimately lead to an inner life that would be transformed, and ultimately lead to enlightenment.

Early on in this journey we realized that membership in the Church would simply not be enough, for the Church is not about beautiful services, icons, or mystical theology. The Church is a hospital for the soul, and therefore the place wherein we would receive the healing for all that ails us. We sensed that the Church is the place where the cure for all that has been keeping us lonely and in despair would bring about healing.

The Hospital of the Soul is our true home, and the very place that brings us face to face with the very God who created us, the God Who’s love fills every need, and where we are joined with a family of believers with whom we will spend eternity with.

With love in Christ,

Abbot Tryphon
