After receiving a new medication and an electric shock to the heart, the heart has returned to its normal rhythm. However during the observation afterwards, I had symptoms of shortness of breath and feeling unwell. And water was collecting in my lungs.
Tests showed that my normal heart’s pumping power had decreased from 55% (which is within normal range) down to 38% which was not expected, and is below normal. Fearing that the heart muscle may be enlarged and damaged, they have ordered an MRI, which was done this morning. At this point they’re not sure if the heart is damaged or not. The rhythm is normal but the efficiency is below normal.

Given all the above, Dr. Demopulos said we are not anticipating any permanent heart damage, and that the declining heart rate could very well be related to my having been in atrial fibrillation for more than a year. He is hopeful that through careful monitoring of the heart, and the introduction of new heart medicines, I can recover normal heart rate.

They will continue observing me in the hospital until at least Monday afternoon.

I’m scheduled to fly to Detroit and Baltimore on the 23rd, for two weeks of talks. Please pray for me, that the Lord will give me the strength needed to carry out this missionary trip.

With love in Christ,
Abbot Tryphon

He has His ways of showing us a different way, not the way we would choose, so much of the time. As Jesus said, I am the way, rest well knowing you are not alone in the journey. Looking forward to hearing of your full recovery. Spring is here!
