The battle for my soul

IMG_9743

Every morning I must examine my heart, lest the enemy of my soul cause me to stumble. Not an hour should pass without my taking time to to look closely at my speech, my motives, my hidden sins, and my relationship with those around me. No spiritual improvement can take place unless I scrutinize my heart, lest I foolishly abandon the path to God. Each hour of my waking breath must be given over the repentance, and each hour I must guard my heart from the weakness of my resolve. The battle against the enemy of my soul will be won if I make spiritual battle the priority of each and every day.

With love in Christ,
Abbot Tryphon

Scripture Readings for the Day:

2 Timothy 3:16-4:4

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Preach the Word

4 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at[a] His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

Luke 21:12-19

12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. 13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls.
