To “the founders of this holy monastery”

On behalf of the holy brotherhood, I want to thank all of you who have been donating towards the support of the monastery, either through PayPal, or by mail.

This pandemic has brought difficult economic times for everyone, but knowing we have friends who care enough to share what they can with the monastery is very much appreciated.

Although our monastery’s celebration of the Nativity of Christ is not until January 7th, I want to shout “Christ is Born” to all of you who are celebrating the Birth of Our Salvation on the 25th of December.

I also want you to know that we pray for you in all our services, asking that the Lord bless “the founders of this holy monastery”. Each one of you is close to my heart, and my daily blog articles, podcasts, and youtube videos are all produced because of my continued love for each and everyone of you.

Please, in your charity, remember old Abbot Tryphon and his monastic brotherhood in your holy prayers.

With love and blessings,
Abbot Tryphon

The Scripture Readings

Hebrews 7:18-25

18 For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, 19 for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

Greatness of the New Priest

20 And inasmuch as He was not made priest without an oath 21 (for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him who said to Him:

“The Lord has sworn
And will not relent,
‘You are a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek’ ”),

22 by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant.

23 Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. 24 But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Luke 21:37-22:8

37 And in the daytime He was teaching in the temple, but at night He went out and stayed on the mountain called Olivet. 38 Then early in the morning all the people came to Him in the temple to hear Him.

The Plot to Kill Jesus

22 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover. 2 And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.

3 Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. 4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. 5 And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. 6 So he promised and sought opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.

Jesus and His Disciples Prepare the Passover

7 Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”

Hebrews 13:17-21

17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Prayer Requested

18 Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably. 19 But I especially urge you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Benediction, Final Exhortation, Farewell

20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Luke 6:17-23

Jesus Heals a Great Multitude

17 And He came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, 18 as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed. 19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.

The Beatitudes

20 Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:

“Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
22 Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.

  2. A Merry Christmas to All!

Appreciate your commitment and wisdom that comes through your blog ,Father.
A blest day to you and the brothers.

  3. Fr bless & I’m a day late to wish you Merry Christmas, but not too late to tell you Blessed Nativity!

I finally had some total recall to better place why you were familiar to me when God started me on my early journey into Orthodoxy. Like so many, it was through Fr Seraphim Cardoza’s past appearances on the Focus Today show “Ask a Priest” with Perry Atkinson. Fr Cardoza was so sincere and humble, but always used those opportunities to share & teach about Eastern Orthodoxy. He SO touched my spirit when I watched those older programs. There was much I could relate to as he spoke about his former evangelical days and knowing Perry all of those years. I know of at least one program where Fr Cardoza brought you along and since learned you were dear friends!! Just wanted to let you know that’s how I connected the dots to you at The Morning Offering!

So happy to also see that you look well after your hospitalization regarding your heart; also that Fr Cardoza & Matushka were able to visit with you this summer after his critical heart issues!
